Not sure if this has been posted, but this is big news for all you steampunk fans out there. From now until 21 February next year the Museum of the History of Science in Oxford is hosting the first museum exhibition of Steampunk art.
From redesigned practical items to fantastical contraptions, the exhibition, curated by Art Donovan, showcases the work of eighteen Steampunk artists from across the globe. So expect ’steam-powered’ computer mice, clockwork hearts, brass goggles and the latest state-of-the-Steampunk-art eye-pod.
A whole host of special steampunk-themed events have been planned (including one for Christmas) and they start today (and are listed below). And don't forget, to get you in the mood, Abaddon Books currently have five steampunk adventures in the Pax Britannia series already published, with Blood Royal coming soon and more to follow after that in 2010.

Slight delay here on my articles for a while foks. Due to a unforseen event (actually planned but the time tables has moved up from its original schedule). I will post while I'm on the road and should have the articles streaming out in a fairly good pace.
But to tempt and give a sample to the readership here and wet the whistle for the Holiday season, I present Lump of Coal

Appearance: 6.5 Plain bottle simple label. I poured it into a chilled mug and their was a small layer of foam (almost the opposite of a head of Guinness). Very dark brown, not quite black as coal as advertised. It poured smoothly into the mug and I didn't have to stop to let the head disperse like with Guinness or other stouts.
Smell/Scent: 3.5 I could barely smell the flavors in the stout. There should be a mild scent of coffee or a nutty flavor, but I knew that they were there.
Taste/Texture: 6.5 Very smooth texture almost like seltzer water and just board line flat (which took away from the experience). The coffee was there and under cut for some reason. The big hit was the roasted nutty flavor that seemed to run the show, there also was a peppery spice that was present and very enjoyable as as bite with cutting the tongue.
Mouthfeel: 7.5 Smooth. A bit thin, not really medium-bodied—reminds me of Guinness, but not as thick or chewy like Guinness.
Overall: 7.0 Nice stout to sit and enjoy during or after a meal, mainly a red meat, or heavy game (I had it during with a Red Robin Santa Fe Burger and fries). I would like this a little richer or thicker, seems to have been thinned out (but that might just be the batch I tried). Still its worth the price I paid and would definitely say that if it matures for a bit 2 (2 months or more) that I could see it being even better.
On BeerAdvocate, it scores a letter grade of B- ("worthy"). I agree this assessment and while I personally gave it slightly higher marks than BeerAdvocate, it still is worth its money to buy and share with friends. I would suggest that this been a finishing drink that would pair well with desert, but in a small amount.

(tags:photography ) - The Original Coming Anarchy: Violence in West Africa
"…(Guinea's military ruler) Camara was shot in the head, either during the coup, or in the violence that followed, or just days ago (reports vary wildly). Whether or not this is affecting his mental condition is unknown, but the stories we read coming from Guinea suggest a James Bond-esque mad villain ? he sleeps all day and emerges only after dark, broadcasts rambling tirades on the radio that last for hours, and has his official guests wait to meet him in a gallery adorned with life-size portraits of himself…"
